Technician, Research Laboratory C (PennMedicine Biobanking)

Job Description

Primary role is the technical processing of biospecimens in the Penn Medicine BioBank with emphasis on DNA isolations.  DNA isolation includes both automated and manual systems and all supporting aspects of DNA isolations. Biospecimens will include blood, tissue, and bodily fluids.  Sample handling encompassing blood separation and advanced cell gradient and tissue culture.  Under supervision of Technical Director and Lab Manager, maintain strict adhere to SOPs, QC and QA policies consistent with study guidelines as well as ISBER Best Practices. Facilitate all aspects of sample inventory and distribution.  Provide special handling and processing of unusual specimens.  Additional responsibilities include freezer monitoring and rotating on-call freezer response, shipping biological specimens, record keeping, equipment maintenance/calibration, and safety compliance in the lab.  Candidates must have good communication skills.
